My Story

IMG_0099I have been called a lot of things. I’ve thought of myself as a journalist, an amateur photographer, a blogger, a crafter and so many other things. But the best thing I’ve been called to date is momma. Before I was momma, I was living it up in Midtown Sacramento and basically doing whatever I wanted – going to some local music venues, art shows, and a whole lotta bars. Last year, that all changed. And while I didn’t know it at the time, I’m so lucky that I did.

I’ve gone from arts blogger/ college student/ drinker to mom/ blogger/ college student/ amateur baker and gardener/ housewife. It has been a wild and crazy ride, but it has also been the most amazing, awesome, meaningful journey I have ever been on.

I’ve been writing for a long time, and I’m much better at that than at a lot of things. But I also really love art. So, this blog is where it all comes together. I write about crafting, gardening, baking, trying to be healthy and I write about awesome people that I find inspiring. Sometimes I will write about parenting, but not often. I think that’s kind of personal so I’ll only write about it if something comes up.

Since I love crafting and making stuff so much, I started a handmade shop on Etsy, named Mariposa Blossoms. I tend to sell upcycled/recycled/repurposed goods but I also sell handmade stuff as well. I’m also selling stuff that my mom made, and will be selling my friend’s stuff soon. It’s where I can let all of my crafty juices flow, and where I can sell stuff for my family and friends that might be a little nervous to get their stuff out there.

Something exciting also happened this year – I started the graphic design program at Academy of Arts! Graphic design has been a passion of mine for a long time and I am so thrilled to learn everything I can about it. I’m focusing on blog design, web design, print design and stuff I can screen print. Basically, anything I can get my hands on.
